Are you able to predict the arrival time of
the particular bus at a specific timing (eg. an hour later)
instead of the next bus? |
| |
iris NextBus provides real time information
on the present location of the buses. Hence, the information
provided is accurate at the time of query. Furthermore, the
travelling time of the bus is constantly changing depending
on traffic conditions, which could change within minutes. Thus,
the shorter the interval between the query time and arrival
time, the more accurate the estimation will be. |
| |
|
| 7. |
What is the degree of accuracy of iris
NextBus in terms of its arrival time estimation? |
| |
The accuracy of iris NextBus is about +3
minutes and -3 minutes. However, the travelling time of the
bus is constantly changing depending on traffic conditions,
which could change within minutes. Thus, the shorter the interval
between the query time and arrival time, the more accurate the
estimation will be. |
| |
|
| 8. |
Why is it that when I repeat my query, I sometimes
encounter a sudden drop in prediction time (eg. Next bus predicted
to arrive in 10 minutes but in 2 minutes time, the revised prediction
indicates 3 minutes)? |
| |
Sudden drops in prediction time do occur when
a bus is introduced half way on-service and this can be scheduled
to address demand over certain stretches of road or it could
be to replace a disrupted bus (eg. accident, breakdown, etc.). |
| |
|
| 9. |
Can we know if the next bus arriving is a wheelchair-accessible
bus (WAB)? |
| |
Yes. The results will indicate '(WAB)' following
the estimated time in minutes. |
| |
|
